FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
1. “What is Lion-Collection?”
- Lion-Collection / mrpassports.com offers a selection of collectibles for purchase. These are mainly expired travel documents. The offer is aimed specifically at collectors of old travel documents, bank cards, rare aviation memorabilia and banknotes. All items are sold exclusively for hobby, study, or research purposes. By using the website and by purchasing an item, the visitor or buyer agrees to the General Terms and Conditions, which include these purposes. The Privacy Policy also applies.
2. “Can I use the passports for traveling?”
- No, you cannot! And it would definitely be illegal! As described above, all offered documents are sold exclusively for hobby, study, or research purposes. I explicitly distance myself from any liability for a sold product that is unexpectedly misused or used improperly. Furthermore, all documents are invalid, have been invalidated, or have been canceled in some other way.
3. “Do you create fake documents?”
- No, we cannot and do not do that! And it would definitely be illegal! We do not support criminal activities of any kind. No documents are created, nor are we associated with such activities in any way. Our shop is exclusively a store for collectors of used documents, as described in point 1.
4. “Why are some photos censored?”
- For data protection reasons, some documents have been obscured.
5. “How do I redeem a promo code?”
- → You will find an image explaining this at the very bottom of this page.
You can redeem a valid promo code or promo coupon by entering the code in the designated field in your shopping cart labeled “Redeem your coupon”, before checkout. The field is located on the left side of your cart (desktop) or below the PayPal button (mobile). Simply scroll down. After entering the code, the discounted amount will be visible immediately.
6. “How much are the shipping costs?”

7. “Can I pay later or pick up my order?”
- No. To complete the transfer of ownership and for accounting purposes, the order must always be paid in advance. We do not accept cash on delivery, cash payments, or pickup/payment upon pickup.
8. “How long does delivery take?”
- Delivery times depend on the destination country. Depending on the country, it can take between 4 and 21 days, and in rare cases longer. You will always receive a tracking number with your order. Therefore, exact delivery times cannot be specified. You can track a shipment. You may also contact your local postal service. Therefore, we generally do not specify delivery times.
9. “How is an order shipped?”
- Your order is shipped in a paper wrapped plastic sleeve in a padded envelope. For shipments outside the European Union, a CN22 form is always attached to the parcel, declaring the shipment as “Document.” Larger orders are shipped in a cardboard box, also well packaged.
10. “Is it legal to collect old passports?”
- Yes, it is legal to collect old travel documents. All offered items are expired, canceled, or otherwise invalidated and therefore no longer valid documents. Invalidated passports have also been returned to their original owners and are no longer owned by the issuing state, but are the normal property of the respective owners. They are therefore to be considered ordinary objects. Upon payment, ownership rights are transferred to you.
11. “To which countries do you deliver and to which do you not?”
- We deliver worldwide except to the following countries:
- Russia, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Turkey, Myanmar, Sudan, North Korea, DR Congo, Palestine, Israel
- All attempted deliveries to these countries are based on our goodwill and are not legally contestable.
- Subject to change in light of current circumstances.
Should you wish to have a delivery made to one of these countries, we regret to inform you that the political situation on the ground prohibits our cooperation.
12. “How can I find a product – and which categories are available?”
- Browse the shop, scroll through the item pages, or simply use the search field at the top of the homepage or the “Search page.” If you are looking for a specific country related to an offered item, this is the easiest way. Years can also be found easily by entering a year number.
- Additionally, items can be found by geographic regions.
- Shop categories are: “Passports,” “Documents,” “Aviation Memorabilia”, "Expired Bank cards", "Books", "Old maps" and “Paper Money.” “Passports” is further divided into “Vintage” and “Modern” (around 1985 is the dividing line).
13. “Why are the prices so high but stable?”
- Our historical passports are not mass-produced everyday items; rather, they are true luxury objects, emotional collectibles, and pieces of highly specialized history. Every document in our shop is unique, with its own story. Our pricing is not determined by the raw material value, but by the immense investment of time, global research, expertise, and capital required to secure these rarities for the market in the first place. To consistently guarantee this standard and authenticity, we set our prices fairly but firmly from the start. Collectors who appreciate the true historical value and rarity of these pieces understand that quality comes at a justified price.
- We spare the collector the tedious research—which often takes weeks or even months—and, as passionate collectors ourselves, we always pay upfront, thereby assuming the risk. The customer can then simply receive the items without any risk or hassle. Furthermore, the costs of operating the shop are already included in the price; there are no additional fees.
14. “A price has changed – why?”
- Although our prices generally remain stable, we reserve the right to change them at any time. You can find details regarding this in our General Terms and Conditions. So, don’t hesitate too long if an item catches your eye—others might be interested in it too, perhaps due to current political events or historical anniversaries. Once an item is sold, it is gone for good.
15. “Is the payment process secure?”
- Yes. The payment process and transactions are transmitted in encrypted form via an SSL certificate (visible by the lock symbol in your browser’s address bar). Transactions are securely processed via PayPal or Stripe. We never receive your payment details—only confirmation that a payment has been made.
16. “Which payment methods are available?”
- Available (depending on your country):
- PayPal, Klarna, SEPA, Google Pay, Apple Pay, all major credit cards
- SEPA: The processing of your payment from your bank to ours can take up to two weeks or longer. We can only ship your order after we have received full payment, and then within two days. If possible, please choose a different payment method. In general, we advise against SEPA payments.
17. “I have an old passport to sell—would you buy it?”
- You can make us an offer. Whether we are interested depends on the country, model, content and condition.
18. “Are there newsletters?”
- Newsletters are sent only relatively rarely (and only if you have agreed to receive marketing emails) to avoid annoyance. New items and discount campaigns can be found on our News page. So you won’t miss anything if you stop by from time to time—we are always very happy about that.
- A newsletter may contain a higher discount coupon than shown on the website. For this reason, we recommend accepting our limited marketing emails. You can register here. We always add your address by default, but you can unsubscribe permanently from the newsletter.
19. “Social media?”
- We are not present on social media. If you discover any imitations of our shop, please contact us; we appreciate it.
- You will receive all news via the newsletter and on our News page.
20. “Why is no VAT charged?”
- As a small business owner, we are exempt from VAT. Therefore, no further tax will be due on your purchase.
21. “Is there an individual offer for me?”
- In principle, yes. It depends on the type of item and the quantity ordered. The payment method and shipping method may also play a role. And it depends heavily on whether you are also an active customer.
- Our individually created offers are valid for 48 hours / 2 days only.
22. “Do you accept direct PayPal payments?”
- In principle, yes. Ask us.
23. “Do you accept other payment methods than those listed?”
- No. Payments via Western Union, TapTap, MoneyGram, etc. are currently not accepted. We are working on it.
